-Share the Gospel Biblically-

Chronological Gospel Presentation

A recent survey by Barna Research Group determined that only 4% of Americans have a Biblical worldview! Even more stunning is that they reported that only 9% of born again believers in America have a Biblical worldview! We have a generation of souls living now who have absolutely no foundation on which to place their faith. I have realized this to be true as I have witnessed to my neighbors and they have little understanding of the most basic Bible stories. Is it any wonder why so many in our country are lost and living without God?

I have come to realize that many of the challenges we faced in Nepal with proclaiming the Gospel to Buddhists and Hindus are similar to what we face in America. It is not enough that people hear but also that they understand what they hear before they believe on Jesus Christ as their way of salvation. We have for too long taken for granted that unbelievers know the terminology of the Gospel and simply do not have any idea of who the true God is, how man was made in His image and is separated by sin, and can only be reconciled by Jesus Christ.

In fact, as I was teaching about this in my adult Sunday School class recently, I shared the story of Jesus talking with the two on the road to Emmaus.  Before revealing who He was, he taught from the law and the prophets “all things concerning himself.” Later that day, Jesus met with his disciples, and again he fulfilled all things which were written in the Old Testament about himself. Only after opening the Scriptures did Jesus open their understanding of them.

It has increasingly become my conviction that we need to present the Gospel from a Biblically chronological approach. It is imperative that we are thorough and clear when sharing the Gospel. Unbelievers must know who God the Creator is and the Book he has given. That is our authority where we find all of life’s answers; then the Fall in the Garden brings sin and death. Only after this bad news does the life and death of Christ make sense and his Resurrection personal for our need!

1. God has spoken in the Bible

The true God of Heaven revealed Himself to mankind in the Holy Bible.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. —Psalm 119:105

In His written Word, God tells us how we can know Him person ally and live forever with Him. To know God, we must trust what He said to be true.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. —Romans 10:17

2. God created all living things

As Creator, God has complete authority over all His creation. God desires to be known and worshipped by mankind. Man has a will and can obey God. He commanded man not to worship anyone else. We must obey Him.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image. —Exodus 20:3,4

God also commanded man not to lie, steal, kill, or commit adultery. If we break one law, we are guilty of all of His laws.

3. Satan rebelled against God

Because God made the world, He is the rightful owner and makes the rules. The devil influenced the first two people, Adam and Eve, to disobey God’s authority. They were ashamed and afraid of God, but they could not hide from Him. God had to cast them out of the Garden of Eden because of their sin. Every person born thereafter, is a sinner.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. —Romans 3:23

4. God punishes sin but is merciful

People became very evil, so God destroyed the earth with a Great Flood. Death is the sad consequence of our sin. This means sinful people are separated from the holy God in Heaven.

For the wages of sin is death. —Romans 6:23a

But Noah and his family were spared by building a big boat. God wants us to repent of our sin so He can have mercy.

The Lord is longsuffering to us ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. —II Peter 3:9

5. Man can't reach God his own way

After the Flood, people again refused to listen to God and tried to build a tower to Heaven in the city known as Babylon. Nimrod led the people to worship the moon and sun.

The pride of man causes him to reject God’s Word, justify himself, and attempt to earn his way to heaven. But God will not accept our good works and religion.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. — Ephesians 2:8,9

6. God provided a way of salvation

Since mankind could not become pure by his own works, God sent His only Son to pay our sin debt by his own blood.

But God commendeth his love to ward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. —Romans 5:8

Jesus died, was buried, then rose again. He offers to forgive us and make us right with God. We cannot earn this gift, but may accept it by faith.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. —Romans 6:23

7. You must choose your path

Will you continue going your own way, or will you choose Jesus?

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. – Isaiah 53:6

What is necessary to be saved? Repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. —Acts 20:21

1) You must admit you are a guilty sinner and repent (turn) from your own way.

2) You must humbly place your faith in Jesus Christ alone.

8. You will go to Heaven or Hell

What you do with Jesus will determine where you will live for eternity.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. — Romans 10:13

You may pray to God now: “Dear God in Heaven, I admit that I am a sinner and helpless to change myself. I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again to give me eternal life. I turn from my life of sin and receive your forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Please come into my life and be my personal Saviour and Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
